Others are Not Failed Attempts at Being You

Do you find it a bit hysterical that people debate their opinions? If so, you're probably thinking 'no matter how good of an argument someone makes or the opposing party makes, they will both end the conversation believing that they are eternally correct and that their opponent (yes, opponent) is eternally confused'. But, is it true?

Is it not true that at times we latch onto a piece of someone's argument and just refuse to admit to ourselves, ‘well, that does make some sense, I suppose’ whether you are in denial or not is inevitable. We are humans with human like qualities, which includes the fact that we hate being wrong, but also in that we are all humans we all think the same, or at least think almost the same.

What I’m trying to say is no matter what another human brain can throw at you – you can relate. No? well, come down from that pedastal. Admit it, you're not always right. Seeing things from your perspective-yes-you will ALWAYS be right-one humdred percect of the time. But, because in reality not everyone sees like you, you can at times be wrong, or even worse…no, there really is nothing worse.

For example, I personally look to the Bible as my utlimate authority - but even from its scriptures, there are so many different interpretations. It goes to show just how many different brain waves are filtering through the same material, but learning different things from it. I believe this is on purpose - that we are made to think differently and have different opinions. We were made to feed off of eachothers opinions and challenge eachother not because we are trying to get that person to think like us, but because as humans we are searching for more. More than what our heads already knows.

You would think that because there are so many of us arguing, excuse me - "discussing", in this stinky world that we would of learned EVERYTHING by now. That being said, if we were meant to learn all TRUTH, by now you’d think we would of. But because we haven’t (phooie) we have to be content with understanding that we are continueing to learn from one another and that we should never look down (or across) at someone elses opinion, but rather embrace the differences and learn from eachother.

The human mind was not created with the commpacity to understand all that ultimacy entails - neither was one 'religion' (recognize that religion and faith are two different things - i'll probably blog about this later). how else are we supposed to know 'why we are here' if we don't feed our brain with other perscpectives. Don't get me wrong, I don't take pieces of things that I like and don't like from different religions. My life is all about owning my own individual perspective and knowing the character of what gives me purpose - but to obtain such knowledge, I have found much of my spiritual satisfaction in investigating the perspecitves of other people groups... just keep in mind, even they have a purpose.

(ps - its so hard to say God or Jesus in a blog without sounding cheesy :p)
